This is really important to me.  I just got out of an abusive relationship and I hope that no one ever has to feel like I did.

Why I hate going on Facebook.

the thing that upsets me most here is that quite a few of these sample replies show profile photos of children. These people are raising families and kids. And for those fathers with daughters,I wonder how amusing they would find it if they knew there was at least a 1 in 4 chance of their own child being sexually assaulted or raped in her own lifetime.

A real funny joke there, dads.

i saw this from an event page for a protest against the Casualties who is a serial rapist/abuser in the boston activist (i think mostly anarchist) community. i’m not too plugged in but i know enough ppl to know how egregious this fucker has been. im hoping to make it to tonight. but i kid you not this is literally the first and only poster i have seen regarding rape culture that actually includes a statement about rape apologists, that "if you are not on the side of the survivor, you ARE on the side of the rapist"

i love sir patrick stewart more with each passing day.

See, guys. This is how you do it. Notice the words “Not all men are like that” are never spoken.

illtakeyourhand asked: My therapist gave me an awesome idea and it has been working so far. She told me to freeze a whole fresh fruit like an orange and then whenever you feel like hurting yourself, press the fruit as hard as you need to against whatever you want to hurt. I told my household it was for a muscle massage technique I read online.

I think, at this point in our world, we’ve got a really confused idea of the way that gender and sexuality work and we’ve created this really superfluous binary in the way we think about gender. I guess I identify as queer because I don’t identify with that. [x]

meepitperson:

Rape isn’t about uncontrollable sexual desire. You only have to listen in on a Call of Duty game to see that. When that kid crows, “I raped you!”, he’s not calling the other guy sexy; he’s saying he defeated him, dominated him, humiliated him. That’s what rape is about, and that should scare you.

Rape is not about sex.

Rape is not about sex.

RAPE IS NOT ABOUT SEX.

Rinse. Repeat. Memorize this.
